        • Lost your car keys? What to do now?

Basically, there are four types of keys in Brazilian automobiles: common keys, pocketknife keys, coded keys and face-to-face keys. Each of them works in a different way, but when they have a problem, there is only one way to solve it: look for a reliable locksmith with high-tech equipment. For further info, click here: who makes car keys

Sebastião Santos, from SOS Chaves, explains that the spare key is essential and should be kept in a safe place, far from the one you use every day

There is nothing more unpleasant than suddenly having your car key broken for any reason or forgetting it somewhere you have already searched, searched and could not find it. Hit an anguish, because without the car key, you are completely inoperable. This, too, can cause you a huge loss, depending on the car, because a new key takes more than 15 days to be manufactured.

This time, Sobre Rodas went to talk to businessman Sebastião Santos, owner of SOS Chaves, a traditional store located at Avenida da Saudade, 158. The company is a distributor and representative of Italian keys called Silca.

          LOSS PODECHEGAR AR $ 4,000

Sebastião explains that, generally, if the lost key is from an older car, “we can reproduce the same one, without problems and in a short time, but modern keys, which have a more complex system, can take much more time to be ready ”. He also explains that the loss of keys can result in a loss of R $ 4 thousand, as with the Toyota Corolla and Hillux face key from 2018 onwards, in case all vehicle keys are lost.

Otherwise, the pocket knife model key for the Chevrolet Onix car, which costs approximately R $ 380, can be ready in less than 2 hours. "Vehicle brands with simpler models tend to charge a lower price for the key, in addition to delivering it without much delay," he explains.

        • ALWAYS HAVE THE RESERVE KEY

Our interviewee explains that that idea of using the key just to start the game no longer exists. “The most modern cars now only come with encrypted or face-to-face keys”, explains the locksmith. He gives the tip to our reader: “if you only have the key you are using right now, run now and make a spare key, because if you lose or break the current key, the discomfort will be very great. Another thing: keep the spare key in a place that is easy to remember, such as in the safe, ”he teaches.

Know the types of car keys

          COMMON KEYS

These are keys used in older cars. They have no advanced anti-theft technology. They only serve to open and close the car and any locksmith can make a copy of these keys. They are a risk to the owner as the vehicle becomes more vulnerable to theft.

          KNIFE KEY

It is a most updated car key. The pocketknife key usually comes from the factory, but can be replicated by key chains. It is a more comfortable type of key to carry in your pocket, for example, and there is no risk that you will break it if you sit on it.

          CODED KEY

The encrypted key has a chip that carries important data to decrease the chance of thieves stealing your vehicle. The mechanism is more complex than that of the common car key. As its name implies, it has a unique code, which is recognized only by your vehicle.

          PRESENTIAL KEY

This type of key works through a radio frequency connection. Because it is a more sophisticated type of key, it is present in vehicles with a higher market value. As for its design, the face-to-face key is very reminiscent of an alarm control, where it is possible with just a touch to open and close doors, open trunk and even start the car.
